Apart from the new graphics, there have been no mechanical or feature updates

  • 2022 Ninja 300 comes in two new colours.
  • Continues to use the same 296cc parallel-twin heart producing 39PS and 26.1Nm.
  • Bookings are open now.

The 2022 Kawasaki Ninja 300 has been launched in the country at Rs 3,37,000 (ex-showroom India), same as before. In its latest iteration, the bike comes with two new colour schemes, and there have been no other changes whatsoever.

While the 2022 Ninja 300’s colour options – Ebony, Candy Lime Green and Lime Green – might seem to be the same as before, the graphics for the Ebony and Candy Lime Green have been updated. The Ebony colour scheme now comes with a grey pinstripe on the fairing, green highlights and ‘300’ stickers on the fairing. The Candy Lime Green model gets a black and green dual tone scheme with tear-like graphics and ‘Ninja’ stickers on the fairing. Interestingly, the graphics in the Lime Green colour variant have been kept as is.

The faired bike continues to be powered by the 39PS, 26.1Nm 296cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-assist clutch. Underpinnings include a 37mm telescopic fork, rear linked monoshock, 290mm front and 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. There are no electronics, and the bike uses a dated twin halogen headlight design, bulb indicators, and a semi-digital instrument cluster without smartphone connectivity.

Kawasaki had silently hiked the price of the Ninja 300 from Rs 3,24,000 to Rs 3,37,000 (ex-showroom India) in March 2022. Even though the updated version has been launched at the same price as before the Rs 13,000 premium for a mere graphics update is too much, considering the bike hasn’t been updated in a really long time. The least Kawasaki could’ve done is to throw in the extended warranty and free service schemes for the 2022 model, so that at least it improves the ownership experience.

Enthusiasts can opt for the TVS Apache RR 310, which offers a great balance of everyday usability, features and performance. Those who prefer raw power can go for the KTM RC 390. Moreover, the updated iteration of the RC will likely be launched next month. An interesting tidbit is that the new Ninja 300 is a whole Rs 5,432 dearer than the top-of-the-line, chromed out Mr Clean variant of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650!
