From scooters to other feature-packed bikes, there are quite a few options for around the same price as Bajaj’s newest baby Pulsar
Bajaj has finally launched the Split Seat variant of the Bajaj Pulsar 125 pan-India. This BS6-compliant bike is priced at Rs 79,091 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 3,597 more expensive than the standard variant with a front disc brake. So, if you have that kind of money to spare and are looking for a two-wheeler, here are some interesting choices:
Honda SP 125 Price - Rs 77,652
The Honda SP 125 is the nearest competitor to the Bajaj Pulsar 125 both in terms of displacement and pricing. With 10.8PS on tap, it may not be as powerful as the Pulsar 125 Split Seat (11.8PS), but it makes 0.1Nm more torque, at 10.9Nm. The bike is also loaded with features like an LED headlamp, fully digital instrument cluster, and more importantly, a silent starter. None of these features are available in the Bajaj Pulsar 125.
At 118kg kerb, it is also a massive 24kg lighter. This should make the bike a lot livelier in terms of dynamics and also help in easy low-speed maneuvering. All in all, the Honda SP 125 is an ideal choice if you want a light, refined commuter motorcycle loaded with features. The bike is priced at Rs 77,652 for the front disc brake variant, making it Rs 1,439 less expensive than the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat.
Suzuki Burgman Street Price - Rs 79,700
The Suzuki Burgman Street is currently the only 125cc maxi-style scooter on sale in India. It gets a healthy list of features with LED headlamp and tail lamp, windscreen, apron-mounted footboard, 2-litre apron-mounted storage compartment with a DC socket, dual utility hooks, and a large 21.5-litre underseat storage.
The Suzuki Burgman Street is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder fuel-injected motor. It makes 8.7PS which may not be much compared to the Pulsar 125 but its peak torque comes quite close, at 10Nm. Overall, this is a great choice for those who want a feature-packed and stylish scooter. It is priced at Rs 79,700, Rs 609 more than the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat.
Hero Glamour 125 Price - Rs 73,250
The Hero Glamour is perfect for those looking for a no-nonsense 125cc commuter motorcycle. It is also the most affordable offering in this list. It gets features like a mileage indicator in its semi-digital instrument cluster and Autosail technology to crawl effortlessly at low speeds.
The Glamour’s engine produces 10.8PS and 10.6Nm, pretty close to the Honda SP 125’s numbers. The new 5-speed transmission should also help in extracting maximum mileage, especially on the highways. At Rs 73,250 for the front disc brake-equipped version, this motorcycle undercuts the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat by a whole Rs 5,841.
Honda Activa 125 Price - Rs 75,042
The Honda Activa range is the Japanese brand’s highest-selling lineup of scooters. The BS6-compliant Honda Activa 125 comes with a tonne of features for better practicality and overall riding experience. It gets an external fuel filler for the first time, realtime and average mileage indicator in its semi-digital instrument console, idling stop system and a silent starter.
While it may not be performance-packed, thanks to the 8.29PS, 10.3Nm motor, it has one of the most refined engines we’ve ever tested in its category. The top-end Deluxe variant will set you back by Rs 75,042, which is Rs 4,049 less expensive than the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat.
Suzuki Access 125 Price - Rs 73,400
The Suzuki Access 125 is the best-selling 125cc scooter in India. The top-of-the-line Special Edition variant will set you back by Rs 73,400, undercutting the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat by Rs 5,691. The Special Edition variant features USB socket on the apron, chromed-out circular rear view mirrors, premium seat cover, and a Special Edition logo on the side panels.
It is also quite practical thanks to dual luggage hooks, 21.5-litre underseat storage, external fuel filler, and an engine kill switch with Suzuki Easy Start System. The Suzuki Access 125 is powered by the same engine as the Suzuki Burgman Street. This scooter will be the perfect option for those who want a practical, reliable, hassle-free point A to point B runabout.
All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
