India will get the bigger engined CFMoto 300SR
- The CFMoto 250SR starts from the equivalent of Rs 2.77 lakh in Malaysia.
- It arrives in the Malaysian market via CKD route from China.
- Powering the bike is a 28PS, 22Nm 249.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor.
CFMoto has launched the 250SR faired motorcycle in the Malaysian market. It is priced at RM 15,800, which translates to approximately Rs 2.77 lakh. There’s also a special edition version, limited to just 30 units. It features the same mechanical bits as the standard version but comes in a sportier blue, white and green race-spec livery. This variant is priced at RM 17,800 (about Rs 3.12 lakh).
The fully faired bike is sold in the country via the CKD route from China. The bike is loaded with premium features like an all-LED lighting system and a full-colour TFT instrument cluster with smartphone compatibility.
The CFMoto 250SR uses a 249.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which churns out 28PS (slightly more powerful than the 250NK, which makes 26.5PS) at 9750rpm and 22Nm at 7500rpm. The engine is counterbalanced for optimum refinement and it works alongside a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch to prevent the rear wheel from locking up during aggressive downshifts.
Even the underpinnings are properly premium. It gets a 37mm inverted front fork and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Brakes include a 292mm disc with radial caliper and a 220mm rear disc. For optimum safety, it also gets dual-channel ABS as standard, sourced from Continental.
The Indian market will not get the CFMoto 250SR. But the good news is, instead of this motorcycle, we will get the bigger-engined CFMoto 300SR. Expect the brand to launch the 300SR by early 2021, provided the coronavirus situation doesn’t disrupt the brand’s plans. It is likely to command a price tag of around Rs 2.5 lakh - Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom), and will go up against the TVS Apache RR 310 and KTM RC 390.
