Hold onto your chequebooks and wait for these upcoming launches
It’s quite easy to get tempted by all the attractive discounts and offers and end up buying a new bike in the festive season, and in most cases, that is a pretty good idea. But in some cases, you might just be better off waiting. Waiting for that great new motorcycle that’s just around the corner. These are the bikes worth skipping the Diwali purchase for
2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350
The new 350cc J Platform motor is on the verge of FINALLY making its debut in the eagerly awaited Meteor, and we expect the engine to also make its way into a Classic 350-style motorcycle next year. The exact name of the bike is still a mystery, but the '2021 Classic 350' will be a larger, more highway-friendly bike than the more urban-minded Meteor.
2021 KTM RC 390
If laidback retros aren’t quite your thing, KTM is bringing its all-new ready to race RC 390 to India next year, and it’s going to be a pretty comprehensive update. The RC has been the neglected sibling compared to the Duke, but the 2021 model will get a new look and TFT dashboard, among other things. Expect an official launch in the first quarter of 2021.
Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser
The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are great little bikes that offer excellent value for money, but the one chink in their armour is long distance comfort. RE is looking to rectify that by plonking the parallel-twin engine into a cruiser body style, and the new bike is expected to drop early next year.
Honda 500cc Range
If you’ve managed to put aside a slightly bigger pile of money, Honda is bringing not one or two but upto four new models next year, in the form of the 500cc parallel-twins. The bikes are the sporty CBR500R, the CB500F roadster, the CB500X adventure tourer and perhaps even the Rebel 500 cruiser.
Suzuki V-Strom 250
The V-Strom 250 isn’t as much of a certainty as the earlier bikes on this list, but if Suzuki does produce the goods, it will act as a formidable competitor to the upcoming KTM 250 Adventure, which is also a bike worth skipping the Diwali purchase for. Suzuki already has some of the hardware in the form of the 249cc liquid-cooled motor from the Gixxer 250, so we hope it can produce a V-Strom 250 sometime soon.
While we haven’t heard much about it since its debut at the Auto Expo a few years ago, we hope that TVS is quietly working away behind the scenes to bring us this exciting new cruiser. In addition to the Zeppelin, the brand is also reportedly working on a naked version of the Apache RR 310, likely to be called the RTR 310.
