- The special edition variant commands a premium of Rs 2,000 over the top-end model.

Since its launch in 1994, the Hero Splendor has been one of the most popular commuter motorcycles in the country. And to commemorate its 25th anniversary, Hero is planning to launch a special edition variant of the Splendor Plus. However, ahead of its official launch, the motorcycle was spotted at a dealership. As per our sources, the limited edition commands a premium of Rs 2,000 and is priced at Rs 56,600 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Based on the Splendor Plus, the special edition model receives cosmetic updates in the form of a new black and gold colour scheme. Apart from this, the special edition Splendor features a USB port, a ‘25th Anniversary Edition’ badge, blacked-out engine casing and alloy wheels. Being a top-of-the-line variant, it gets an electric starter, Integrated Braking System (IBS) and i3S (Idle Stop-Start system) too. This system shuts off the engine while the motorcycle is stationary for around five seconds to save fuel and comes back to life again when the rider presses the clutch.
Other than these changes, the motorcycle remains mechanically unchanged. Powering the Splendor Plus 25th Anniversary Edition is the same 97.2cc motor seen on the standard variant. This motor is capable of producing 8.36PS and 8.05Nm of torque, and is paired to a 4-speed gearbox.
