Take a look at Hero’s first 160cc streetfighter in detailed images
Hero MotoCorp pleasantly surprised us with the unveiling of the Xtreme 160R at the Hero World Event 2020 in Jaipur. The bike will be launched in March and is likely to cost around Rs 90,000 to Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Check out the details of this newly unveiled motorcycle in images:
The Hero Xtreme 160R is essentially the production version of the Xtreme 1.R concept, which was unveiled at the 2019 EICMA.
It is the first motorcycle in its segment to get an all-LED lighting system, including the indicators. The headlamp looks similar to the concept version.
The fuel tank extensions are nicely chiselled. The clean stickering coupled with the dual-tone colour scheme enhances the muscular bike’s premium quotient.
The bike gets an all-digital instrument cluster. While it looks nice and compact, the information is pretty much run-of-the-mill. We’d have liked if Hero would have offered a real-time mileage indicator apart from the regular trove of information.
The ergonomics is pretty upright, with a slightly forward stance. It should be comfortable for everyday commutes, but only a proper road test will ascertain that.
The switchgear quality looks pretty top-notch. For added convenience and safety, it gets a dedicated hazard lamp button.
The bike’s powered by a new 160cc air-cooled fuel-injected motor, which churns out 15.2PS and 14Nm. Fortunately, the bike gets a kick lever, which isn’t the case with its rivals - the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V BS6, the Suzuki Gixxer BS6, and the Yamaha FZ-S FI V3.0 BS6.
The motor works alongside a 5-speed transmission. Hero claims the bike can sprint from 0-60kmph in 4.7 seconds.
The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloys on both ends with tubeless tyres. Up front, it gets an MRF Nylogrip Zapper YZ M and a petal disc with two-piston sliding caliper. A single-channel ABS is offered as standard.
The rear gets a meaty 130-section MRF Rev-Z S radial rubber for better handling around corners. Hero has equipped the bike with a petal disc at the rear too. Compared to conventional discs, petal units offer superior heat dissipation thanks to the larger surface area. The rear suspension consists of a 7-step preload adjustable monoshock.
The single-piece seat looks spacious and comes with a distinct hump for additional support to the rider.
The grab rails are neatly integrated into the tail panel, giving off an uncluttered look.
