Two of the most sought after bikes in the 250cc space explained in detailed images

The Honda CBR250RR and the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R are currently the two of the most sought after bikes in the 250cc space. They pack different engine configurations, stand shoulder-to-shoulder in terms of features and look the part. Here’s what each bike has to offer, explained via detailed images.

Both bikes look like 650cc supersport in terms of proportions. The CBR250RR looks meaner though, with razor-sharp lines, an aggressive riding posture and a double-barrel exhaust gives the bike its distinctive look. The ZX-25R, on the other hand, looks like a toned-down ZX-6R with a front fascia that’s almost indistinguishable from its elder sibling.

The CBR250RR comes equipped with a full digital instrument console while the ZX-25R gets an analogue-digital unit.

The supersport styling of both bikes along with their performance demand a committed riding posture with lower set clip-on handlebars and rear set footpegs.

Speaking of performance, the CBR250RR is powered by a 249.7cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that puts out 41.7PS at 14,000rpm compared to the ZX-25R which uses a unique 250cc inline four-cylinder motor. The latter belts out 51PS at 14,500rpm. The two bikes in their most premium trim get a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.

The Honda may be down on cylinders but it weighs 14kg lighter than the Kwacker, which tips the scale at 182kg kerb. This effectively translates to a power-to-weight ratio of 248.21PS/ton for the CBR and 280.21PS/ton for the ZX-25R.

Harnessing the power are a couple of rider aids. While the duo comes with three power modes each, the Kwacker seems to step it up a notch with the inclusion of traction control.

Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes at both ends paired with dual-channel ABS.

The Honda CBR250R, in its standard trim, costs Rp 66,700,000, or around Rs 3.5 lakh, while the Kawasaki ZX-25R gets a starting price of Rp 96,000,000 (Rs 4.99 lakh).
