Honda has introduced the new Grom mini motorcycle overseas. For 2020, it gets major updates in the form of new bodywork, new features, and an all-new motor. The new MSX125 Grom now offers more power and easier customisability.
The most visible update is the new headlamp and bodywork. It gets a compact bodywork which can be swapped for another by removing just 12 bolts. The large bolts are visible as part of the design. Its new headlamp looks premium and gets all-LED lighting. The LCD digital instrument console now features a tachometer and gear position indicator. It comes in the colour options Force Silver Metallic, Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic and Gayety Red.

It gets an all-new Euro 5-compliant powertrain. The 125cc air-cooled and fuel-injected long-stroke motor delivers 9.78PS at 7250rpm and 10.5Nm at 5500rpm. It now gets a 5-speed gearbox which should allow the motor to run a bit relaxed at higher speeds. Top speed stands at 94kmph now while claimed fuel efficiency is 65.7kmpl.
Underpinnings include a single steel backbone frame with 31mm upside-down forks and monoshock. The mini bike gets 12-inch alloy wheels and brakes via a 220mm front disc and a 190mm rear disc. It is easy to ride courtesy its 103kg weight and low 761mm seat height.
Will the Grom come to India? Given its comparatively high pricing and nicheness, it will be a tough job for Honda to find enough customers to justify getting the mini bike here.
