Slated to be launched on July 6, the upcoming TVS cruiser may not be called the Zeppelin R

As we wait with bated breath for TVS to launch their much-awaited cruiser, a leaked brochure scan suggests that the Hosur-based manufacturer could call the upcoming bike as the TVS Ronin.
Well, a small walk down memory lane shows that TVS has never retained the name of concept bikes in their production versions. The Akula concept turned into the TVS Apache RR 310, and the Draken ended up being the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Even the TVS NTorq 125 was called the Graphite in its concept form.
Hence, it’s likely that the TVS cruiser to be presented on July 6th will not be called the Zeppelin R, but rather it would be named the TVS Ronin. This bike is expected to retain majority of the parts that were showcased on the Zeppelin concept at the 2018 Auto Expo, however we do know that the LED headlight will not be the chiseled rectangular unit as the concept bike, but rather a traditional round LED headlight with a massive DRL. You can check out the headlight design in our exclusive report.
The concept showcased in 2018 was said to be powered by a 220cc, single-cylinder engine producing 20PS and 18.5Nm. However, a TVS Apache RTR 200 4V-derived engine could make it to the production model, albeit in a bored-out 220cc guise. This bike is expected to be priced around Rs 1.60 lakh, ex showroom Delhi. Interestingly, while the concept was always called the Zeppelin, TVS had trademarked the name ‘Zeppelin R’ in November 2020. A question now arises about what might become of the Zeppelin R? Well, we cannot rule out the possibility of a sportier concept cruiser with a bigger engine donning this coveted R title, being unveiled in the near future.
