Earlier, we had told you that the upcoming TVS Apache 200 will be powered by a new air-cooled engine and it will share the design cues from the concept Draken. Now, some recent reports are claiming that the new apache will be faster than any other offering in the respective segment. If such reports are to be believed, the new Apache 200 could be even faster than the KTM 200 Duke.
The new 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor of the Apache 200 will get 4-valves and an oil-cooler for better performance. It is expected to be fed by electronic Fuel Injection (FI) system that will further enhance the output. The new reports suggest that the mill is going to deliver a maximum power of around 28bhp along with a maximum torque output between 22-25Nm. The power output of the bike is much higher than that of its direct rivals- KTM 200 Duke (24.7bhp) and Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS (23.2bhp).
The upcoming Apache is expected to be launched in January 2016 and it will receive a naked sport styling like its rivals. Highlighted features of the bike will be a masculine plastic cladding on the fuel tank, low-set headlamp, fully digital console, wide tyres and twin-port exhaust. It will also get a split pattern seat while the clip-ons might come as an option instead of the single-piece handlebar. The new alloys of the bike will be split-spoke type and are expected to get 100/80 and 130/70 section tyre at the front and the rear respectively.
The suspension set-up of the upcoming Apache 200 will comprise of telescopic front forks and mono-shock at the rear that might be a link type unit. The bike will feature dual petal-disc brake as standard while the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) could be optional. With all these exciting features and equipment, the upcoming Apache 200 is expected to be priced around Rs. 1 lac, so it can give a tough competition to the KTM 200 Duke and Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS.
