The BS6-compliant Apache RTR 160 2V is Rs 5,722 more expensive than its BS4 iteration
- The 160cc engine now makes 0.41PS and 0.87Nm more.
- It gets the GTT (Glide Through Technology) feature from the RTR 160 4V and the RTR 200 4V.
- Apart from a new paint scheme, there’s no cosmetic update.
TVS has launched the BS6-compliant Apache RTR 160 2V in India at a starting price of Rs 93,500 (ex-showroom). At this price, the BS6 model is Rs 5,722 more expensive than its BS4 iteration. Bookings for the BS6 model have already commenced.
The BS6-compliant RTR 160 2V gets a new feature in the form of GTT – Glide Through Technology - where the rider doesn’t have to modulate the clutch or twist the throttle at low speeds. Here’s how it works.
Powering the 160 2V is an updated 159.7cc motor which, thanks to fuel injection, makes 15.53PS and 13.9Nm -- 0.41PS and 0.87Nm more than before. The rest of the mechanicals remain exactly the same.
The new RTR 160 4V is one of the few motorcycles that has actually received a bump in power in the shift from BS4 to BS6. We will reserve judgement on whether the hike in power does actually make a difference in terms of performance or not for the road test.
