The F77 is India’s first entry-level electric performance motorcycle

  • The F77 is powered by a 25kW motor that has a peak torque of 90Nm.
  • Ultraviolette claims it can do 0-60kmph in 2.92 seconds.
  • It gets features such as LED lighting, custom app and smartphone connectivity.

A few months ago, we got the Revolt RV 400 - India’s first all-electric motorcycle. But now, Ultraviolette has launched India’s first all-electric, entry-level performance bike, the F77. The electric motorcycle is available in three paint options: Lightning, Shadow and Laser. Ultraviolette has announced that the F77 will be priced between Rs 3.0 lakh and Rs 3.25 lakh (on-road). Online bookings for the motorcycle have begun, with deliveries scheduled for October 2020. The F77 will be available in Bengaluru first, followed by other cities.

Ultraviolette had revealed some information about the F77 earlier that made us quite excited. For instance, the F77 has a peak power output of 25kW and 90Nm at the wheel. Furthermore, the manufacturer claims that it can do 0-60kmph in 2.92 seconds, which is 0.95 seconds faster than the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V! Now we know electric motorcycles have an advantage because of their instantaneous torque, but 0.95 seconds faster than a 200cc Apache? That’s incredible! And oh, the top speed is limited to 147kmph!

Being a performance-oriented bike, you’d expect the F77 to sacrifice on the range aspect, but that isn’t so. Ultraviolette claims that the 4.2kWh removable battery has a range of 130km-150km, which is quite exceptional for a motorcycle in this segment. Just for perspective, the Revolt RV400 has a claimed range of 150km in Eco mode. The manufacturer claims that the battery pack can be charged in 5 hours via a standard charger, but if you opt for the fast charger you can charge it in just 1.5 hours.

The F77 sits on a trellis frame and tips the scale at 158kg (kerb). The frame is suspended on USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, which is kind of similar to the KTM RC 390. Braking hardware consists of disc brakes at both ends, and switchable dual-channel ABS is offered as a standard fitment.

And lastly, its features list. Just like most other electric two-wheelers out there, the F77 comes with a ton of features. Apart from the standard stuff like a digital instrument cluster and LED lighting, it will also be equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, with a dedicated smartphone app which will display useful rider information such as range, battery percentage, average speed and location. It also gets 9-axis IMU with built-in sensors, impact sensors and emergency contact alert. Additionally, it gets three rider modes: Eco, Sport and Insane.

In case you want to accessorise your F77, the bike maker is offering a portable fast charger, a charging pod, crash guards and panniers as optional extras!
